米国における(驚きの)電子書籍販売部数(2012年)

Publishers Weeklyが2012年の電子書籍の販売部数を発表しました。

Gone girl米国での紙媒体の販売部数はまだ電子書籍を上回りますが、その差は相当縮まってきています。

注目すべき現象は、ベストセラーになったミステリーのGone Girl(洋書ファンクラブの2012年『これを読まずして歳は越せないで賞』候補作)です。なんと電子書籍の販売部数が紙媒体のそれを上回ったというのです(電子書籍が100万部以上で、紙媒体は90万部)。


また、電子書籍は紙媒体と異なり廃刊になることが少ないので、多くの本を出しているベテランは、総合的に収入が多くなるわけです。たとえば、ロマンスブックの上Nora Roberts は電子書籍が40作あり昨年だけで総合320万部を売っています。ギネスブックに登録されるほど刊行数が多いJames
Patterson は260万部、Janet Evanovichは180万部近く売ったようです。
